Tickets to Mars will ultimately cost less than 500,000 USD. On board the spacecraft making flights to Mars, there will be not only the richest people on Earth, if everything goes according to the plans of Ilon Mask.

The cost of passenger space aboard the Starship Super Heavy, an interplanetary spacecraft of SpaceX, will eventually decrease so much that a significant part of the population of the industrialized world will be able to travel to the Red Planet, the billionaire entrepreneur predicted last weekend.

It depends on the traffic volume, but I am sure that a trip to Mars (a return ticket is free) will cost less than 500,000 USD one day, and maybe even less than 100,000 USD. This is quite a low price so that most people in economically developed countries can afford the flight to the Red Planet if they decide to sell their home on Earth and go to conquer Mars.

The Starship spaceship will be sent to a near-earth orbit aboard a giant rocket called Super Heavy, and then make an independent flight to Mars or the Moon, depending on the particular end point of the route.  Then the Super Heavy rocket will be returned to Earth, will make a vertical landing – and will be prepared for the next new flight.

Reusability of both rocket and spacecraft plays a key role in reducing the cost of interplanetary flights, according to Musk. In addition, an additional reduction in the cost of this new mission was made possible by the recent replacement of the starship plating material from carbon composite to stainless steel.

SpaceX is planning to launch the first missions to Mars using the Starship spacecraft and the Super Heavy rocket in the mid-2020s. However, the prototype Starship may be tested very soon. SpaceX has built a smaller copy of the ship, called a hopper, and plans to launch this unit into a test flight over the next few weeks or months.
